As well as a brand new schedule for 2019, there will be an
increased focus on continuing education training. Although there are already a
range of workshops focusing on planning, organizing and conducting continuing
education programs Holly plans to increase the focus on standards, conduct and
efficiency in teaching new programs to already certified divers. The Gili IDC
has always included a high level of focus on group orientated exercises,
activities and workshops; Holly intends to adopt a more group orientated
emphasis to all areas of the course allowing candidates to improve their team
work ability and therefore play a highly productive role in any dive shop team.
Another area of concentration will be Admin and Paperwork. Holly already
conducts a presentation on Administration, Paperwork and on line PADI
Navigation, but in 2019 there will be more emphasis on making sure Instructor
candidates know how to locate and use the necessary paperwork and access vital
tools to assist teaching new and experienced divers.
Another fun tool planned
for 2019 is the Gili IDC Theory App which will be available for PADI IDC
Candidates to download and use. The App has been designed by Holly Macleod and
is fairly basic in nature which fulfills it requirements of being simple and
easy to download and use. The App uses a quiz type platform which makes the whole
experience more relaxed and fun, whilst still encouraging learning. It gives
Instructor candidates the chance to directly evaluate their own development in
dive theory whenever and wherever they want. The App has the qualities of any
quiz, being able to score points and collect coins allowing the user to access
further levels, go 50:50 on a question, pass or phone a friend. The App really
will be a great addition to the Gili IDC in house learning tools.
