As well as a brand new schedule for 2019, there will be an increased focus on continuing education training. Although there are already a range of workshops focusing on planning, organizing and conducting continuing education programs Holly plans to increase the focus on standards, conduct and efficiency in teaching new programs to already certified divers. The Gili IDC has always included a high level of focus on group orientated exercises, activities and workshops; Holly intends to adopt a more group orientated emphasis to all areas of the course allowing candidates to improve their team work ability and therefore play a highly productive role in any dive shop team. Another area of concentration will be Admin and Paperwork. Holly already conducts a presentation on Administration, Paperwork and on line PADI Navigation, but in 2019 there will be more emphasis on making sure Instructor candidates know how to locate and use the necessary paperwork and access vital tools to assist teaching new and experienced divers.

Another fun tool planned for 2019 is the Gili IDC Theory App which will be available for PADI IDC Candidates to download and use. The App has been designed by Holly Macleod and is fairly basic in nature which fulfills it requirements of being simple and easy to download and use. The App uses a quiz type platform which makes the whole experience more relaxed and fun, whilst still encouraging learning. It gives Instructor candidates the chance to directly evaluate their own development in dive theory whenever and wherever they want. The App has the qualities of any quiz, being able to score points and collect coins allowing the user to access further levels, go 50:50 on a question, pass or phone a friend. The App really will be a great addition to the Gili IDC in house learning tools.

Komodo Divemaster Indi from Jakarta now a Scuba Diving Instructor with Multiple Award Winning Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod and the IDC Indonesia in the Gili’s

Meet Indi from Jakarta who is now a professional PADI scuba diving instructor. Indi is originally from Jakarta but is now happily based in Gili Trawangan.

Until recently Indi was an engineering student but has been a diver for several years, mainly diving on family holidays or trips within Indonesia. Last year he decided to take the plunge an on his gap year between University and a Master’s degree he chose to try life as a dive professional.

Indi chose the renowned diving area of Komodo for his PADI Divemaster training and gained fantastic experience learning the challenging currents and conditions that the National Park is famous for. He worked as a DM for several months before being offered the chance to try a different environment and gain experience working within a more training oriented dive operation so moved to Blue Marlin Trawangan. Indi is a naturally sociable guy and loves to interact with his customers so teaching was the natural next step for him. Indi than decided to take the PADI IDC Gili Islands with Multiple Award Winning Triple Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod.

Though a little nervous, particularly about the dive theory and PADI standards in English, Indi was keen to take his PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). To help, he chose to take part in our IDC preparation workshop which is essentially an extended work shop conducted over several days to help candidates with language concerns to get a thorough understanding of dive theory.  He was also able to use this time to participate in Standards workshops, skill circuit practice and to refresh his rescue skills under the supervision of our Course Director and Staff Instructors.
Although Indi is a massive fan of Diving in Komodo and the PADI IDC Indonesia is over, he has chosen to stay in the Gili Islands to work with Blue Marlin Dive allowing him to earn some good money whilst gaining experience from other Instructors within this busy dive shop.

The Gili Islands PADI IDC Program takes place every single month at the only PADI 5 Star IDC Career Development Center (CDC) in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia offering world class training facilities at the highest possible standards. The program is entirely conducted by Platinum PADI Course Director Holly Macleod, who has a massive amount of industry experience within the diving industry and offers the very best instructor level training experience available. The find out more about the program check out the reviews from previous PADI IDC Indonesia candidates on TripAdvisor and latest updates on the Gili IDC Indonesia Facebook Page.
